God of all Comfort
Angel encounters come in many different ways and in order to understand these encounters we have to consider Hebrews 1:14 which states “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” This morning I was sitting in my office in the cozy chair and nodded off to sleep for a few moments. When I did I heard an angel singing nearby. He started to sing very beautifully the old hymn “Great is thy Faithfulness.” Being raised in the church I was very familiar with this old song, but sometimes when God is highlighting it is as if you are hearing it for the first time. The words to this tune are beautifully written. Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!” Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided-- “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me! There is such comfort in these words. I don’t know about you but comfort from God is invaluable. There is nothing like hearing from heaven that my situation and my life is known by God and that things are going to be fine. This is the benefit of the Christian life. We have a God who sees us, understands and speaks Comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.” I remember one time I was eating breakfast at a restaurant in Ottawa. The behavior of the waitress was very distracting. She wasn’t working as good as she likely worked day after day. I heard the Lord say, “Tell her that I am the God of all Comfort.” I did just that and to my great surprise she started crying in her hands. My mother was there with me and she hugged this dear lady. We found out that the word was so very timely because just the day before her grandfather had passed away. God knows us. He knows what we are going through and he wants us to feel his comfort and love even during the pain. I don’t know what you are going through today, but I want you to know that God is with you and his plan for your life shall be fulfilled. He will not allow you to go without his abiding presence. Whatever storm you see on the horizon. Whatever storm that you may be in God is there. He will silence every enemy. He will block every arrow. He has you. He know you. He loves you. I pray for you today. I ask the Lord to send his comfort even on the backs of angels’ wings. May you experience heaven today and may you know the voice of the one who comforts. Holy Spirit move in each life I pray.
