To See Like Yahweh

We are in the Days of Awe between the Biblical Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement. It is a time to take seriously our need for redemption and let Yahweh deal with the things in our lives that are standing in the way of us having a closer relationship with Him.

Yahweh has a deep love for all His people. He sees both the good and the evil in this world. In the Garden of Eden, the serpent convinced Eve that partaking in the fruit of both good and evil was a way of finding freedom and that Yahweh was trying to stop that from happening. In reality, Yahweh was trying to protect them from trading their freedom for a lie. The serpent was and still is a great deceiver.

In a vision, Yahweh took me up to the top of a high building, put His arm lovingly around me, and expressed His desire to show me the world through His eyes. Many Christians choose to turn a blind eye to what is happening in the demonic realms. It seems more godly to only see the positive in this world. But how can we be free and lead others into freedom if we refuse to acknowledge the chains exist?

Adam and Eve fell because they chose to embrace the supernatural realm outside of Yahweh’s protective boundaries. When we choose to reject Yahweh’s instructions and live as we see fit, we end up being led by the Evil one whether we consciously desire to do so or not.

In our culture, it is normal to believe that the supernatural realm is not real. Therefore the average person is easily introduced to witchcraft through the entertainment industry. The industry is lead by people who are heavily involved in the occult. Unfortunately, the average Christian is just as influenced by Hollywood and Disney as the world is. It is tempting for Christians to think that the way to enjoy life and influence those in the world is to adopt the ways of the world for Christ. But in reality, that idea just creates a Christianized form of witchcraft. We can’t lead people out of the world if we ourselves are in love with it. Yahweh wants us to love being in His kingdom, not the world’s (Psalm 1).

The entertainment industry has a tendency to be prophetic, but it is false prophecy since it encourages people to follow other gods (Deuteronomy 13). Yahweh will never use other gods to empower His people.

There is a big difference between being a leader in the world’s kingdom and being one in Yahweh’s. The worldly model of leadership tends to be more about controlling people. Godly leadership is about drawing closer to Yahweh and encouraging others to do the same. Yahweh’s greatest commandments are to love Him and to love others as ourselves(Matthew 22:37-40). The world’s way is to live a life of competition and step on others to make it to the top. Yahweh’s kingdom is about forming a loving community under His leadership.

To be royalty in Yahweh’s kingdom is to be a vessel for the love of Yahweh to flow through, both giving and receiving love. To be royalty in the worldly sense is to think only of yourself and getting what you want through manipulation and control, while treating others as competition. It’s a lonely world. Trying to be a citizen of both kingdoms will really complicate your life. True peace and contentment

can only be found in Yahweh’s kingdom.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were given a choice. They could choose to trust that Yahweh loved them and knew what was best for them, or they could listen to the serpent and choose to become the gods of their own lives. They chose to listen to the serpent’s lies and reject Yahweh’s place in their lives. The cost was high and benefits were not worth it.

We are given the same choice today. We can choose to honour and obey our loving Yahweh or we can choose to live for our own pleasure and be the god of our own life. The many false gods of this world are quite willingly to offer us pleasure while placing a rope around our necks. They offer “freedom” while separating us from the source of our freedom.

“But if you don’t want to serve Yahweh, then choose today whom you will serve. Even if you choose the gods your ancestors served on the other side of the Euphrates or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live, my family and I will still serve Yahweh.” Joshua 24:15 Blessings, Lydia Canning
